Once Upon a Time...
(...and it was a very, very long time ago) I did a degree in Graphic Design and photography. More recently, in 2000 I did an MA in Heritage Studies (Interpretation, Presentation and Design). In between these two things, I was a freelance Graphic Designer; an Archive Conservator and then for several years ran a farm attraction stocked with rare breeds of sheep, goats, cattle, pigs and poultry! (That was how I got into interpretation.)
After the MA, my first job was Education Officer at Hackney City Farm. I then became Interpretation Officer for the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and in 2008 moved north and became Interpretation Officer for Nidderdale AONB.
I was elected a full member of the Association for Heritage Interpretation (AHI) in 2003.

Through my work for Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONBs), I’ve developed a strong expertise in ‘Local Distinctiveness’. In other words, being able to understand, capture and communicate the ‘specialness’ of a landscape or place. To do this, I not only use my copy writing skills, but also my skill with a camera.
