How I can help you

“Not everyone is a natural interpreter. Some ‘interpretation’ projects fail simply because they don’t bridge the gap between the knowledgeable enthusiast and the ordinary person who is just trying to have a day out!
Bridging that communication gap is what I do. Like a language interpreter, I'm a go-between: translating and explaining what the 'experts' are saying.”

Do you want to engage with your audience – make them sit up and take notice?
I will find ways of making text – whether on a website, panel or leaflet – look like it is worth reading!
This website subtitle is an example:
Kidding Mr Hitler
(There was a dummy airfield – designed to fool Second World War enemy bombers. Nothing remains of it today. But you can still see the remains of other defence structures in Lincolnshire Coastal Country Park.)
And here’s another from the same website:
Strip Tease
(How was ridge and furrow formed? The answer lies in the way a medieval plough turned the soil over as the farmer – with his team of oxen – ploughed round and round the strip.)

Do you have an environmental or conservation message that you want to get across?
Many years of working with the public and in partnership with a wide variety of environmental groups and organisations have taught me this: to communicate ‘serious’ messages and get people ‘on your side’ you must first connect with them and find common ground. Humour can help. For example:
Captain’s Leave Log, Stardate 3141.9 (23 June 2269)
Dear Spock,
Earth sure looks different! Global warming has taken its toll. I’ve beamed over to the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to buy some fresh fruit. This is now the UK’s most important banana growing region. I really miss bananas on long space voyages, don’t you? (Do bananas grow on Vulcan?) Well, while I’m here, I’ll pick up some oranges and figs as well. This area’s not called the Garden of England for nothing!
Regards,
Jim

Do you have a landscape or place that you want to tell people about and get them to connect with?
I can get under the skin of a place.
By doing thorough research, I will identify the stories that make it special. Using these stories, I will make it come alive.
“Mine down through the centuries and connect to people who have been here before you... and with people before them... and before them... further and further back, deep into Time...”
